Step-by-step guide to purchasing, registering, and using your Journiv Plus license.

This guide will walk you through getting started with Journiv Plus, from purchasing a license to using your first Plus feature.

Choose Your Deployment Mode

Before registering your license, decide how you want Journiv Plus to run:

Inline mode: the default and simplest setup. Plus runs inside the main Journiv app container.
Sidecar mode: the preferred option for privacy-focused deployments. Plus runs in a separate container and Journiv connects to it over an internal network.

Use sidecar mode if you want Journiv Plus isolated from public internet access or if you are deploying in an air-gapped environment. The Docker installation guide covers the optional sidecar compose file.

Step 1: Get Your License

Where to Purchase

Journiv Plus licenses can be purchased here. Once you have purchased a license, you will receive a license key via email within 48 hours. Please ensure to use a valid email address when purchasing a license. Your license key will be valid for 1 year from the date of license email sent (not the date of purchase).

License Key Format

Your license key will look like this:

lic_abc123def456ghi789jkl012mno345pq

Important: Keep your license key secure and treat it as a password. You'll need it to register Plus features on your instance.

Step 2: Access License Settings

To register your license, you need admin access to your Journiv instance:

Log In - Sign in to your Journiv instance as an administrator
Navigate to Settings - Click on "Settings" in the navigation menu
Open License Section - Click on "Journiv Plus" or navigate to /settings/license

You should see the license management screen, which shows:

Current license status (if any)
License registration form
License information and actions

Step 3: Register Your License

Registration Form

The license registration form requires:

License Key - Your 36-character license key (starts with lic_)
Email Address - The email address associated with your license purchase
Discord ID (Optional) - Your Discord username if you want to join the Plus discord channel on Journiv Discord server.

Registration Steps

Enter License Key - Paste your complete license key into the "License Key" field
Enter Email - Enter the email address you used when purchasing the license
Add Discord ID (Optional) - If you want to join the Plus Discord group, enter your Discord username
Click Register - Click the "Register License" button

What Happens During Registration

When you register your license:

Validation - Your license key is validated with the license server
Binding - The license is bound to your installation's unique ID
Activation - Plus features are immediately activated
Confirmation - You'll see a success message and your license details

Registration Requirements

Admin Access - Only administrators can register licenses
Internet Connection - Registration requires internet access to validate with the license server
Valid License - Your license must be active and not expired
Email Match - The email you enter must match the license owner's email

Step 4: Verify Your License

After registration, you should see:

License Status - Shows "Active" if your license is valid
Expiration Date - Shows when your license expires
Install ID - Your unique installation identifier

Step 5: Access Plus Features

Once your license is registered, Plus features are immediately available:

Tag Analytics

Navigate to Tags - Go to Settings → Tags
Open Analytics Tab - Click on the "Analytics" tab
View Analytics - Explore your tag usage statistics and trends

Public Publishing and oEmbed

After Plus is active, you can also use Plus-powered publishing features:

Publish selected entries - Share specific entries at public URLs
Control indexing - Decide whether a published entry should be indexable by search engines
Use richer embeds - Published entries support oEmbed for compatible services and platforms
Offer public PDFs - Published entries can expose a public PDF download

Feature Availability

Plus features are automatically enabled when:

Your license is registered
Your license is active (not expired)
Your license is valid (not revoked)

If a feature shows a "Plus Feature" message, check that:

Your license is registered
Your license status is "Active"

Troubleshooting Registration

Common Issues

"License registration failed"

Verify your license key is correct (36 characters, starts with lic_)
Ensure your email matches the license owner's email
Check your internet connection
Try refreshing the page and registering again

"Rate limit exceeded"

You can register a license up to 2 times per day per license
Wait 24 hours before trying again
Contact support if you need immediate assistance

"Email mismatch"

The email you enter must exactly match the email used when purchasing the license
Check your purchase confirmation email for the correct email address
